Zero waste printers

Do you want to work with tools that are kinder to the environment? At New Zealand Couriers, we are always looking for ways to lessen our impact on the planet. That is why we are excited to announce the trial of a new, environmentally friendly printer within our customer AsureQuality’s operations. This printer uses different materials and emits lower levels of pollutants compared to traditional printers. We believe it’s a great step forward for businesses that want to be more environmentally conscious.

Our current backing paper

If you’re already using our roll labels for thermal printers, then you’re likely already using a sustainable option. An added benefit of our labels is that the current backing paper is comprised of glassine, a recyclable and biodegradable material.

When everyone’s doing eCommerce, it’s the way you do it that matters. Read about eCommerce strategies that work.

Our glassine paper is made of FSC-certified wood pulp, meaning the trees they are sourced from are grown in an environmentally responsible way. These materials are subjected to high heat and pressure to form a durable paper-like material that is flexible yet strong.

However, when we look at the recycling statistics for Kiwis, it’s evident that our recycling rate is low. On average, we only recycle and compost one-third of the materials on the curbside; everything else is sent to landfills. To help reduce waste generation even further, New Zealand Couriers has introduced the new SATO CT4-LX linerless thermal printer. The SATO CT4-LX generates self-adhesive labels, meaning no backing paper is required. This in turn, means less time and resource required to recycle, as there is no waste generated!

Environmental benefits of the printer

The latest generation of printers have been designed especially with the environment in mind. One of the most significant advances is the ability to print without the need for backing paper. This means that less paper is used overall, and there is no need to recycle or dispose of used backing paper. These printers can help your business to reduce its carbon footprint and can save you quite a bit on printing costs.
