Meet Alex Lim – Leading the Charge

Alex Lim has been part of the New Zealand Couriers team for over a decade, operating out of our Manukau branch and moving heavy freight for key customers around Auckland Airport. Recently, Alex made a bold move: he swapped his diesel van for an LDV eDeliver9 electric van. Three months in, he says he’s never looked back.

Why Go Electric?

For Alex, the decision was about more than sustainability.

“The torque is amazing – much better than diesel, even when fully loaded,” he says. Lower maintenance costs and cheaper running costs sealed the deal. Charging at home during off-peak hours means Alex spends around $7 a day to cover his 140km run. And with servicing recommended every 30,000km (compared to 10,000km for diesel), the savings add up fast.

Performance That Delivers

Range anxiety? Not for Alex. His van’s 88kWh battery gives him a real-world range of around 240km – more than enough for his daily workload. Fast charging options and regenerative braking make it practical for busy courier runs. And the driving experience?

“Honestly, it’s better in every way – power, acceleration, and no warm-up time,” Alex says.

“They love it. It shows we’re serious about sustainability,” he adds.
